Investing in massage and body work is an investment in your health. Listed below are some different types of massage practices that you and your therapist can discuss and evaluate which type is best for you.

Swedish massage is a light to medium pressure intended to relax and reset your body's nervous system and to improve overall blood and lymph circulation. This is done through soft, gentle strokes, kneading, rocking and compressing your tired muscles.

Deep Tissue massage is a more intense soft tissue manipulation that is intended to release chronic types of tension that is held within the muscles.  By applying deep pressure techniques and releasing the connective tissue that surrounds all of your muscles, tendons and ligaments, your body’s physical structure is able to move more freely and in coordination with other muscles.  This method of myofascial release allows your body to become more efficient at maintaining optimal postural alignment and avoiding chronic muscle tension and pain. Deep tissue massage is effective in breaking up scar tissue, helping to rehabilitate sub-acute to chronic injuries and increase range of motion to improve performance and avoid future injuries.

Lymph Drainage massage is a light, feathery touch intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph fluid back to the heart, carrying waste products away from the tissues to reduce inflammation, edema and toxicity. It is also a great immune booster that can help to enhance your body’s ability to regenerate and repair tissues. It aids in softening and minimizing scar tissue, reduces swelling, pain and bruising and increases mobility in affected areas.

Acupressure is a very light pressure, applied with the fingertips or thumbs, using the principles of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine to promote healing through your body's energetic system, or meridians. It is an ancient practice dating back more than 2,000 years ago and is formally used to balance any over-energized or depleted energy systems and help return your body back to a state of homeostasis. It is effectively used for pain reduction, headaches, emotional and stress imbalances, nausea, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances and infertility issues.

Touch For Health is a systematic approach to identifying your body's response to stress through manual muscle biofeedback testing, or applied Kinesiology. The therapist can use this information to identify imbalances in your body and perform a variety of holistic, gentle touch techniques that can be used to release blockages in your body's energy system, thus activating it's ability to heal itself. This energy rebalancing can be most effective when dealing with stress and emotional trauma, pain reduction and/or elimination, nausea, headaches, nutritional imbalances and repetitive strain injuries.
